The North Shore News is a newspaper dedicated to exploring local issues. It caters to the information needs of Rosemère, Deux-Montagnes and the surrounding areas residents. It features up-to-date political and social stories along with poignant and quick witted commentary on subjects that affect not only our local readers but Canadians as a whole from coast to coast. Unlike many community newspapers, the North Shore News frequently goes beyond the story, to isolate the focal point of events that shape the city, the province, the country and the world. |
HELLO NORTH SHORE ! By Anne-Marie van der Peijl Welcome to your new community newspaper. Pop open the champagne and get the fire works cracking, the North Shore News is in town and it’s all about you, the North Shore residents, and the events that affect your every day lives…..and it’s about time! The North Shore News intends to be your ears and eyes as well as your voice. We will be covering local news and events that the major media often skip because they don’t consider them important enough. In most suburban areas, the community newspaper is still the only place where people can follow local politics, sports and social events. In the age of Internet and all kinds of new media, the community paper is alive and well; a recent survey indicates that 63 % of English speaking Quebecers read their community newspaper. The North Shore News reflects our straightforward approach to journalism: an objective and critical assessment of events and people that influence your community. As you get to know us, you’ll see, and read, that we practice fair and responsible journalism; we cover the pros and the cons of a story, each side of an issue or a dispute gets equal billing and we don’t take sides. Unlike many community papers, the North Shore News will go beyond the story to isolate the focal point of events that shape the city, the province, the country and, indeed, the world. To be on top of the news, a good local paper needs the input of its readers. You can help by keeping us informed of newsworthy events in your community. If you have opinions that you would like to express, you can also write to our editor and present your particular point of view on a subject. We’re open for business and ready to hear from you; call us, e-mail us or write the North Shore News and be a part of this exciting new venture. The North Shore News is delivered to your home every second Saturday. Your new community paper is part of an independently owned community newspaper group that has been in business and dedicated to local news since 1993. |
