The overcrowding situation int Laurentian hospitals continues prompting another announcement from the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) des Laurentides which is asking members of the public with non-urgent health issues to avoid the emergency departments of the region’s hospitals in Saint-Eustache, Lachute, Saint-Jérôme, Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Rivière-Rouge and Mont-Laurier, which are currently experiencing a high influx of patients.
The (CISSS) des Laurentides is urging people with non-urgent health issues to consider these alternatives to the ER at all times:
Call 811 for Info-Santé to speak with a nurse;
Talk to your family doctor;
Talk to a doctor at a walk-in clinic;
Talk to your pharmacist;
Go to the ER as a last resort.
For the list of walk-in medical clinics according to location visit the resource directory at sante.gouv.qc.ca/en/repertoire-ressources/. The Québec Medical Appointment Scheduler also makes it possible to book an appointment online for a given time of day.
If people are experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, they are asked to not hesitate to get tested at a designated clinic near them and, of course, anyone necessitating urgent care should not hesitate to go to the ER to receive the primary care they need.
According to the CISSS des Laurentides’s press release the organization is making every effort to improve the situation.
