The cities of Blainville and Sainte-Thérèse are informing their respective populations that the cleaning work and repairs will be carried out at the main pumping station of the Sainte-Thérèse and Blainville intermunicipal water purification board.
From 10 p.m. on Sunday March 28, 2021, until Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:30 p.m., the pumping station must be shut down to allow this work to be carried out, so that the wastewater will be temporarily discharged in the Mille-Îles River.

The following mitigation measures are planned:
The work will be carried out partly at night, during which time the sewer network is less strained.
Cities will ask major industries in their respective territories to minimize the discharge of wastewater into the sewer system.
The wastewater discharge will take place during a period when the flow of the Mille-Îles River is greater than 300 m3 / s, which allows the water to be rapidly diluted and thereby considerably reduce the environmental impact.
Collaboration requested
The two cities ask for everyone’s collaboration in order to reduce the quantities spilled in the Rivière des Mille Îles. The more people reduce their water consumption during the construction period, the less wastewater will be discharged into the river. It is therefore desirable to limit, during this period, taking a shower or bath as well as washing clothes and dishes.
In addition, residents are reminded that, in general, the following items should never be thrown into the toilet or the sink: table scraps, solid materials (tampons, sanitary napkins, condoms, dental floss, wet wipes, etc. .) and hazardous household waste (motor oil, paint, drugs, etc.).
No impact on drinking water
These operations will have no impact on the quality of the drinking water distributed. It can be consumed without danger during and after the work.
