Shoring up the Charron stream

This work, nearly 75% funded by the Government of Quebec, is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Security and the Land Movements Section of the Ministry of Transport. As of January 9, access roads to the construction site will be laid out on Rue du Ruisseau and Rue Joutel.
Objectives of these works
These works have two main functions: Prevent the risk of large landslides by using riprap to counterbalance the masses of soil contained in the embankments on either side of the stream an to prevent the risk of slopes falling by protecting the bottom of the slopes against the erosion of watercourses.
Types of work
The stabilization interventions consist of a massive riprap of the bed of the watercourse and the revegetation of the slopes of the Charron stream.
Due to the constraints of the terrain, the work must be carried out during the frost period (until approximately March 31) OR during the summer dry season (from May 15 to approximately October 15). These periods are more conducive to soil stability and prevent flooding in the watercourse.
To achieve the objectives and limit the duration of the work this summer, it can be carried out continuously, i.e. 7 days a week, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Traffic and presence of trucks
A large quantity of rocks will be required for the work to be carried out, which will cause heavy traffic on boulevard du Domaine and rue du Ruisseau. The contractor will notably build access roads from rue du Ruisseau, rue Hemlock and rue Joutel (in Blainville). Worksite bypass roads will be put in place.
To facilitate truck traffic, parking may be prohibited on certain street sections and near certain intersections. Residents, workers and visitors must respect the signage that is installed. Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution around heavy vehicles.
