Households sought in Sainte-Thérèse to take up the Zero Waste Citizen Challenge
The City of Sainte-Thérèse is appealing to its population to create a cohort of households that will embark on an ecological transition, gently and without guilt.

“Adapting our consumption habits can make all the difference in limiting our ecological footprint. As a result, the City is pleased to host the Zero Waste Citizen Challenge, which will allow Teresian participants to acquire concrete tools to reduce the quantity of residual materials produced at the source. Take part in the change by registering now for the Challenge” said the mayor of Sainte-Thérèse, Mr. Christian Charron.
The Zero Waste Citizen Challenge will last for 6 months. During this period, residents of Sainte-Thérèse will have access to more than 20 hours of content on an online platform. Workshops, conferences, video capsules, individual and group support will help them progress at their own pace. In addition, a support forum will allow them to exchange with other participants in Sainte-Thérèse.
The approach is inspired by the 5 “Rs: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Revalue”. Among other things, citizens will learn how to put their trash on a diet, make their own cosmetics and household products, demystify recycling, thwart obsolescence and develop responsible consumption reflexes. The city believes that in addition to reducing amount of waste produced in a household, residents will also save some money.
The Challenge is free, but places are limited to 30 households. No prerequisites required other than motivation. The deadline to register is March 22 and selected households will be invited to a kick-off party which will take place on Wednesday, April 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The Zero Waste Citizen Challenge is an initiative of the Incita Cooperative. It will be deployed throughout Quebec in 2023.
