A 47-year-old man is accused of the second degree murder of Nicole Lauzon, in Saint-Marthe-sur-le-Lac. The body of the 64-year-old woman was discovered on Saturday morning.
Officers from the Lac des Deux-Montagnes Police Authority went to the home on rue des Plaines at around 9:15 a.m. because of a conflict between two people.
They found the victim inanimate. She was pronounced dead in hospital.
The investigation was immediately transferred to the Crimes against the Person section of the Sûreté du Québec.
The suspect was arrested on the spot. He also faces a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
He appeared by telephone and will remain detained until his passage in person at the courthouse, according to SQ spokesperson Marie-Michèle Moore.
The provincial police force does not confirm the link between the victim and his alleged murderer.
