COVID-19: vaccination extended to two new groups

0
The operation continues to accelerate in Quebec, with the expansion in recent days of vaccination for certain people with a chronic disease and essential workers in environments at significant risk of outbreak, as well as the offer of the vaccine.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, provided an update on the vaccination campaign today, accompanied by the director of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Quebec, Daniel Paré, and the director National Public Health Officer, Doctor Horacio Arruda.
The operation continues to accelerate in Quebec, with the expansion in recent days of vaccination for certain people with a chronic disease and essential workers in environments at significant risk of outbreak, as well as the offer of the vaccine. AstraZeneca for people aged 45 and over.
Until now, people with a chronic disease with a very high risk of complications have been offered vaccination in hospitals where they are followed, or by a pharmacist. Increased vaccine dose deliveries over the coming weeks now allow vaccination to be expanded to two additional groups, before opening to the general population.
“With the large arrivals of vaccine doses expected in the coming weeks, we are able to extend vaccination to even more vulnerable people. This is great news. The experience gained over the past few months, with a more limited number of doses, has made it possible to confirm the excellent functioning of the logistics in place and to prepare us for the stage of vaccination of the general population, which is approaching in giant steps”, said Christian Dubé.
Next groups
As a first step, people with chronic diseases who are under the age of 60 will be able, as of April 23, to make an appointment at a vaccination center or at a pharmacy by going to Québec.ca / vaccinCOVID. This expansion will make it possible to offer the vaccine, over the coming weeks, to approximately 300,000 additional people suffering from chronic diseases under the age of 60.
In addition, as of April 28, anyone with a motor, intellectual, speech or language disability, visual, auditory or associated with other senses, or linked to an autism spectrum disorder may also make an appointment on the page Québec.ca / vaccinCOVID. Once again, the vaccination can be done in a vaccination clinic or in a pharmacy. One family caregiver per person belonging to this clientele can also register. Approximately 250,000 people, and as many caregivers, will be able to potentially obtain their first dose.
These two groups of people represent 1 million people in total, including the 200,000 people announced last week who are actively monitored in hospitals and whose vaccination has started. 800,000 new people are added to the current vaccination.
Vaccination to the general population will begin at the end of May.
AstraZeneca vaccine available in the Laurentians
As of April 21st, individuals aged 45 and over can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine without an appointment in dedicated clinics. The location and schedule of these clinics is available on the CISSS des Laurentides website. People that are interested can also make an appointment online via the ClicSante website. To be noted that, with or without an appointment, the AstraZeneca vaccine is available at all the vaccination centres in the Laurentians, but at dedicated time slots. Also, the CISSS des Laurentides reminds everyone that the AstraZeneca vaccine is available only to those aged 45 and over. Residents therefore must be 45 years old at the time when they get the vaccine (age will take precedence over year of birth).

Thérèse-De Blainville PD recycles masks

The Thérèse-De Blainville PD continues to surprise us with the expansion of its scope of services and initiatives.

The Thérèse-De Blainville PD continues to surprise us with the expansion of its scope of services and initiatives. This time around it goes beyond civilian protection and into the environment.

As part of Earth Day, the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville is proud to be associated with the union of its civilian employees affiliated with CUPE, local section 4708.

Indeed, the RIPTB will collect the masks of its employees while encouraging a Quebec company located in Magog. With a simple, low-cost solution, this company disinfects and recycles different types of face masks to turn them into plastic materials which are then recycled into new products. The RIPTB and the union invite businesses in the area to recycle their masks and thus take concrete and significant action for the environment. RIPTB invites all residents to consult the RECYC-QUEBEC website to identify companies that offer recycling of personal protective equipment (PPE)

16th edition of the horticultural day: return of the “home delivery” formula.

16th edition of the horticultural day: return of the “home delivery” formula.

While the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the City of Deux-Montagnes announced that it will hold the 16th edition of Horticultural Day in a “home delivery” formula for a second consecutive year, to the delight of gardening enthusiasts!
Due to gatherings still prohibited, the distribution of 2,000 plants (herbs and boxes of annual flowers) which was scheduled for Saturday, May 22 at the municipal garage is thus canceled. A comparable quantity of plants will however be delivered on the territory of Deux-Montagnes to the first 2,000 residents who will register online as of Monday, May 3. They will receive free and safe two (2) plants of various herbs and one (1) selection of annual flowers to undertake their gardening project.
This initiative is part of the City’s beautification program and is organized to encourage residents to take care of their beds and gardens on their properties.
“The pandemic and the restrictions it imposes on our daily lives affect the morale of many citizens. We believe that offering the delivery of free plants again this year will certainly bring warmth to our citizens, in addition to the spring sun which provides a great dose of comfort,” said the mayor of Deux Montagnes, Denis Martin.
Deux-Montagnes citizens wishing to receive their three free plants must simply complete the registration form on the Town’s website, which will be available between May 3 and 9. Only one registration per address is accepted. Citizens who do not have access to a computer to register can do so by telephone at 450 473-2796, extension 1125.
The seedlings will be delivered without contact and without an appointment. The plants will be placed outside the property. The handling of the jars / boxes will be ensured with vigilance, in compliance with the health instructions surrounding COVID-19. Delivery will take place from May 17 and will take place over a few days. It will not be possible to guarantee citizens when they will receive their selection.
The holding of this special edition of Horticultural Day greatly benefits from the participation of the Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache – Deux-Montagnes which, for the 12th consecutive year, has agreed to act as main partner. “The Caisse Desjardins de Saint-Eustache-Deux-Montagnes is pleased to be able to join forces with the City of Deux-Montagnes to offer citizens, once again this year, a reinvented horticultural day given the current situation. As a cooperative, the Caisse’s mission is to contribute to the well-being of individuals and of its community,” said Roland Tourangeau, representative of Caisse Desjardins Saint-Eustache-Deux-Montagnes.

Awareness campaign #Partagelaroute

Awareness campaign #Partagelaroute

The MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville, in collaboration with the cities of Boisbriand, Blainville, Bois-Des-Filion, Lorraine, Rosemère, Sainte-Anne-Des-Plaines and Sainte-Thérèse, as well as the Régie intermunicipale de police Thérèse-De Blainville, the Service de police de Terrebonne and the Service de police de Blainville, launched the second phase of the #Partagelaroute road safety awareness campaign. This campaign aims to protect vulnerable users in terms of road safety, more specifically targeting sharing of the road.
“The safety of vulnerable users is an issue facing municipalities and the MRC is always willing when the time comes to give birth to initiatives encouraging intermunicipal collaboration. We therefore wish to improve our road record and raise citizens’ awareness, particularly in terms of sharing the road, with an emphasis on the protection of vulnerable people and on the adoption of a safe behavior” declared the prefect of the MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville, Mr. Richard Perreault.
The second phase of the campaign runs from April 14 to May 15 under the theme “SHARING” and is aimed at motorists and cyclists. Awareness will mainly take place through an animation capsule shared on social networks. Also, posters in the colors and images of the campaign will be installed in the municipalities and stickers will be distributed by the police during awareness-raising operations.
“With the return of good weather, sharing the road is essential for the safety of all users. So that our outings remain pleasant, the City of Rosemère invites all users to share the road safely. By bike, on foot or by car, be courteous. We are all part of the solution! », affirmed Mr. Eric Westram, Mayor of Rosemère.
According to the SAAQ, a little more than one in two people in Quebec rides a bicycle. In 2019, crashes mainly occurred at an intersection with the cyclist and driver traveling in intersecting (perpendicular) directions. According to the police, the most frequently mentioned causes of road accidents causing victims to cyclists are inattention and distraction!
This campaign is being carried out thanks to the financial assistance program of the Road Safety Fund of the Ministère des Transports du Québec.

The CISSS des Laurentides acquires neonatal transport stretchers.

The CISSS des Laurentides acquires neonatal transport stretchers.

Following the delivery of the first neonatal transport stretcher to the Laurentian Hospital, acquired thanks to the financial contribution of Laurentian and Medical Foundation Pays-d’en-Haut, and the positive evaluation of this equipment by the birthing unit team, the Laurentian Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) is happy to be able to provide the hospitals of Saint-Jérôme and Saint-Eustache as well as the birth center in Boisé-de-Blainville with the same equipment.

This major addition would not have been possible without the collaboration and the financial contribution of the Saint-Jérôme Regional Hospital Foundation and the Saint-Eustache Hospital Foundation.

The transport stretchers, adapted exclusively for newborns, will allow the CISSS des Laurentides to provide transport between its facilities for babies requiring specialized care offered in the region. Previously, this type of transport was provided by the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center
(CHU), even if the level of care did not require their expertise. The Sainte Justine University Hospital will however continue to provide transport for newborns requiring tertiary level care, that is to say more complex care.
“Thanks to the foundations, we are the first CISSS in Quebec to acquire stretchers adapted to newborns and to offer our patients of the Laurentian Hospital, the Saint-Jérôme Regional Hospital and the Saint-Jérôme Hospital, Saint -Eustache and the Birthing Center of Boisé-de-Blainville transportation to a service in our network, when the situation does not require the specialty of tertiary centers. This equipment responds to a need for autonomy in the services we offer to the population. We will now be faster in our interventions since we will have the equipment on site and it will be operated directly by the staff available at the birthing unit”, specified the President and CEO of the CISSS des Laurentides, Ms. Rosemonde Landry.
This project was carried out in collaboration with the CHU Sainte-Justine which helped the CISSS des
Laurentides in the training of professionals, including doctors, respiratory therapists, midwives, and nurses and in the addition of equipment to the transport incubator so that everything complies with standards and practices.
Finally, the development of neonatal transport stretchers is also the result of a collaboration between pre-hospital emergency services, the biomedical engineering service, the Technimount neonatal transport system, the company Technimount System as well as all the ambulance companies operating on the territory of the Laurentians, particularly CAMBI CISSS Laurentians.

The CISSS des Laurentides announced that as of April 15th, adults under 60 years of age who are considered to have a very high risk of complications from COVID-19 as well as essential workers in environments at high risk of an outbreak are invited to make an appointment to get vaccinated.
Vaccination will be carried out on the recommendation of an attending physician in specific circumstances, namely, for:
People who are currently hospitalized with a condition that puts them at risk of complications from
COVID-19;
Patients who receive renal dialysis treatment in hospital, transplant recipients and those receiving
cancer treatment;
People who have to receive a dose of vaccine under the supervision of an allergiologist in a
hospital.
Pharmacists can also help reach people with these conditions who cannot get vaccinated in hospitals.
For more details, see the detailed list of chronic diseases and health problems and the instructions for

Essential workers in environments at high risk of an outbreak
Adults under 60 who are essential workers in environments at high risk of an outbreak can go the the
www.Québec.ca/vaccinCOVID to make an appointment to get vaccinated.
For more details, see the list of essential workers included in the priority group 9.
“Expanding vaccinations to these two new groups in the Laurentians marks an important new stage in the battle we have been fighting for more than a year. It brings hope for the future. We encourage everyone to heed the call and get vaccinated,” said Caroline Chantal, director of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign at the CISSS des Laurentides.
Given the limited availability of vaccine doses, the vaccine roll-out is being done in stages. Although
vaccinations are by age group; it will still be possible for older seniors to make an appointment to be
vaccinated even after the campaign in their region has moved on to subsequent age groups.

Vaccination campaign in businesses

The FCCQ and the CCITB wish to bring together the entrepreneurial community and the population around the vaccination centers in companies

The FCCQ and the CCITB wish to bring together the entrepreneurial community and the population around the vaccination centers in companies

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec (FCCQ) and the Chamber of commerce and industry Thérèse-De Blainville (CCITB) announced the first 13 business vaccination centers made by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé.

The centers unveiled last week represent the first phase of the in-company vaccination operation. The government’s objective is to create at least one center in each region of Quebec and to vaccinate 500,000 Quebeckers thanks to the involvement of businesses.

“A new page of collaboration between business and government is being written before our eyes and we are delighted about it. The FCCQ is proud to have been active from the start in mobilizing its vast network and we would like to thank all the companies who filled out the form we had posted to show their interest in hosting a vaccination clinic. The government has chosen to retain a limited number of centers for this first phase, but it is remarkable to see such a large number of companies, from all over Quebec, who wish to collaborate, ”declared Charles Milliard, President and CEO of the FCCQ.

“Targeting companies interested in hosting a vaccination campaign was necessary to speed up the implementation of this initiative. The CCITB is proud to have collaborated with the FCCQ to quickly collect this data. We solicited our members and carried out communication campaigns with companies whose characteristics corresponded to those sought by the Ministry of Health and Social Services. We would also like to underline the great participation of the companies of the region, which volunteered to protect our population”, added Cynthia Kabis, Executive Director of the CCITB.

Bringing companies together towards a common goal that leads to concrete actions is the aspired role of the network of chambers of commerce. Up to now, the FCCQ and the CCITB have been able to effectively link the interested companies and the government, which selects the vaccination centers.

“Organizing a vaccination hub is one of the many ways businesses can help and all types of contributions will make a difference. In addition to the businesses that will lend their premises, there are many other nearby businesses that can also play a role by providing vaccinators, support staff, security personnel or offering logistical assistance. We are going to continue our involvement in order to facilitate the future networking between the identified poles and the companies able to meet the needs of human and material resources”, added Mr. Milliard.

Vaccination in the workplace should begin in May according to the government. The FCCQ and the CCITB invite the population to be vaccinated as soon as possible, according to the order of priority provided by the government, and to respect the time slots chosen in order to be able to complete the vaccination campaign as soon as possible.

“The companies that agreed to get involved did so for free to help the health network. I congratulate them and thank them. Their efforts will help protect the population and revive our economy as quickly as possible. As a trained pharmacist, I cannot stress enough that the vaccine is our best weapon for a return to normal life, ”concluded Charles Milliard.

Upcoming Registration for Recreational and Cultural Activities with Voilà! Rosemère

The City of Rosemère is including a registration section for recreation and library activities in its Voilà! Rosemère communication platform.

The City of Rosemère is including a registration section for recreation and library activities in its Voilà! Rosemère communication platform. Residents will now have to access this free app before registering for a course or an activity for themselves or a member of their family.

“This addition is an important step towards centralizing our residents’ information in one and the same place! In addition to offering Rosemerites a far more user-friendly and dynamic registration platform than the previous version, residents now have access to a much more complete overview of their activities with the Voilà! app. So, I invite all those who have not yet had the opportunity to download Voilà! Rosemère, to do so quickly,” said Rosemère Mayor Eric Westram.

Due to the public health measures currently in place, in-person recreational and cultural activities have unfortunately been suspended for an undetermined period of time. However, while waiting for the registration period for the day camp on April 13, residents are invited to create their free Voilà! Rosemère account or to link their Citizen’s Card to their existing account.

Moreover, the city points out that in order to register for a recreational or cultural activity, Rosemerites must have, at all times, their Citizen’s Card up to date and valid for the duration of the selected activity. To renew a card or to check the validity of family members’ Citizen’s Cards, residents must contact the library or the Recreation Department.

The Voilà! Rosemère digital platform is safe and easy to use. The principle is simple: Residents download the app onto their smartphone or tablet and create their user profile by entering their address. They will then be able to select the information and notifications they wish to receive by identifying their preferences in their profile. For example, residents will be able to choose to receive notifications of emergency situations and/or reminders for various waste pick-ups, view the calendar of activities that interest them, register online for recreational activities and receive all municipal news. This app will also enable them to view their tax bill, apply for permits online and report non-urgent problems to their town, such as a pothole or a broken streetlight. Lastly, residents will have the opportunity to take surveys issued by the Town to express their views on various issues of concern to them.
