Culture Days in Saint-Eustache: 25 years of dreams!

This year, the Journées de la culture are celebrating their 25th anniversary. It is by drawing inspiration from the provincial theme Travel in time that the City of Saint-Eustache will deploy, on September 24, 25 and 26, a rich and varied cultural program that will please everyone.

“With the forced break last year due to the pandemic, we are delighted to invite the population to participate in the many activities that will be offered as part of this great cultural celebration”, said Mayor Pierre Charron at the time of the announcement. “Of course, all measures will be taken to ensure compliance with health instructions. We look forward to welcoming you! “, he added.

Music and dance shows

The “Talents de chez nous” show will be back this year at Le Zénith. A range of amateur and emerging artists will tread the boards to transmit their passion to the public during a free performance on September 25 at 2:30 pm where Rock fans will be able to discover the original songs of the group EVER, while fans of rap will be delighted with Samy the Artist. Still in song, Jacinthe Loubert, Gabrielle Grenon as well as NEV will share the microphone during the evening. Dance will also be in the spotlight with the contemporary dance solo by Léanne Roussel and the dance and song number of the Académie des arts Trouve ta Voie. Finally, Lyne L’Espérance, participant in the show En Studio, broadcast on TVA in November 2020, will close the show.

Still in the musical register, the Quebec singer-songwriter Jordane will come to present a show from her “12 days” tour which echoes her most recent album of the same name.

Family activities

In addition to these shows, a series of fun activities will be offered at the Guy-Bélisle library for ages 7 to 77, including digital music workshops, a digital graffiti workshop, a participatory exhibition of musical creation from real fruits and finally, workshops for creating animated video and image projection (video mapping).

Sound and light projections on the church of Saint-Eustache

Based on works produced by citizens during video creation workshops, a projection session will illuminate the facade of the historic church of Saint-Eustache, which will be accompanied by a tailor-made musical track orchestrated by DJ Alexandra Rodriguez Ramirez.

“Culture is still very much alive in Saint-Eustache, as evidenced by the program announced. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about new passions or, quite simply, to appreciate local talents! », concluded municipal councilor Raymond Tessier, responsible for cultural issues in Saint-Eustache.

Guy-Blanchard Park: The new play modules are ready to welcome Teresian children!

0
This game module was vandalized in June 2020 by an arsonist.

The  City of Sainte ‑ Thérèse announced the end of the development of the play modules at Guy ‑ Blanchard Park. Children can now enjoy the brand new pirate ship themed facilities.

In June 2020, an arson attack caused damage of more than $ 150,000 and deprived the neighborhood children of their playground. Following a process that included a consultation with students from Saint-Pierre school, a public call for tenders and the completion of the work, the park is now accessible and includes a large play area, modules and new swings. A parent-child seat as well as a disabled person’s seat will also be added to the swings in the coming weeks.

“Last year’s event was very unfortunate and it is a pity that the children are the ones who were the victims of this act of vandalism. However, we are very happy to have completed this project and we are convinced that the families of the neighborhood will have a lot of fun discovering this new space! “, said the mayoress of Sainte-Thérèse, Mrs. Sylvie Surprenant

 ” The consultation that we carried out with the students was a first for the City, and it was a more than conclusive experience! As it was the children who made the final choice of the modules, we already know that they will be greatly appreciated. The reopening of the park was eagerly awaited, so I invite the residents of the neighborhood to come there without delay! », added municipal councillor for the Blanchard district, Mr. Armando Melo.

Transport hub in Faubourg Boisbriand

Transport hub in Faubourg Boisbriand

The City of Boisbriand will develop an intermodal hub in the Faubourg sector, i.e. a site where different modes of active and collective transport will converge, such as rental electric bicycles, an electric shuttle system to stations and bus service.

“This is a long-term project that will change the face of Boisbriand. This intermodal, or urban mobility hub, responds to an increasingly pressing need to reduce our use of solo cars by offering citizens practical options in terms of transport and mobility. The development of this pole is in addition to the possible realization of other public transport projects,” says Mayor Marlene Cordato.

Over the next year, a study aimed at the development of this hub will be carried out, including an opportunity study for sustainable modes of transport and strategic planning of urban and regional public transport, as well as the development of a preliminary concept focused on the environmental performance of the proposed site and based on the results of a citizen consultation.

As a first step, a self-service electric bicycle station will be offered to citizens. This is a pilot project that will be carried out in collaboration with IVÉO, an organization that works with the City to deploy sustainable mobility solutions in the territory.

The hub will be located halfway between the residential Faubourg and the commercial Faubourg, which will promote multi-clientele use.

The Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) will contribute financially to this study to the tune of $ 100,000 thanks to the Metropolitan Development Fund. Mobility partners, namely the Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM) and the Exo transport network, will also be involved.

Vaccine Passeport for Deux-Montagnes and Rosemère

The advent of the Quebec vaccine passport has obliged the North Shore Municipalities to adjust their activities to require it. Both Rosemère and Deux-Montagnes have new directives for its use.

In order to be aligned with public health directives, the City of Deux-Montagnes is obliged to require the vaccination passport (and identity with photo) to citizens aged 13 and over wishing to participate in the physical and sports activities offered by the City. This measure, came into force from September 1, is in addition to the other health measures already in place (wearing a face cover, physical distancing, etc.).

The vaccination passport is not required for children 12 years of age and under. On the other hand, it will be required for accompanying parents who participate in the activity with the child (for example, during a swimming lesson where the presence of the parent in the water is necessary).

VACCINE PASSPORT VERIFICATION PROCEDURE

Citizens aged 13 and over who register for an activity in person at the Recreation Department (200, rue Henri-Dunant) may present their vaccination passport and an identity document on site, at the time of registration. As for citizens who register online, proof of vaccination containing a QR code showing their level of protection will be required during the first session of the activity. This evidence can be presented in three ways:

In paper format;

In PDF format on a mobile device;

From the VaxiCode app.

Following an online registration, participants will also have the option of presenting their vaccination passport to the Recreation Department, during office opening hours, before the start date of the activity.

In Rosemère, the vaccination passport and a proof of identity with photo will be required for :

All courses and activities offered indoors for those 13 years and older;

$48 million for the public library sector

The Minister of Culture and Communications, Ms. Nathalie Roy, announced that the increase in the amounts allocated to autonomous public libraries (BPA) and centers Regional Public Library Services (CRSBP) is maintained. Financial assistance of over $ 23.5 million is therefore granted to BPAs for the 2021-2022 period and nearly $ 24.7 million is allocated to CRSBP for the next 3 years. She made the announcement at the Rosemère public library with the Minister of Finance and Minister of Economy and Innovation, Mr. Eric Girard.
The Minister announced in July 2020 an improvement in the budgetary envelopes devoted to the acquisition of books; increases which were respectively 32% for BPA and 50% for CRSBP.
This involves 175 BPAs, spread across Quebec, which will thus benefit from a total assistance of $ 23,520,000 allocated within the framework of the call for projects program for the development of the collections of autonomous public libraries of the Ministère de la Culture. and Communications. This aid will enable the BPAs to enrich their collections and improve their management. It will also promote the purchase of Quebec books and the free subscription to the public library service for users.
For their part, the 11 CRSBPs will obtain a total annual assistance amounting to $ 8,227,357 through the Operating Assistance program for regional public library service centers. The sum of $ 24,682,071 will thus be paid to them on a three-year basis.
Through this funding, the Government of Quebec wants to enable BPAs and CRSBPs to develop and enrich their collections of books and documents, for the benefit of the citizens they serve. The assistance granted to the CRSBPs for the support of the mission will also be devoted to the offer of services, resources, training and technological infrastructure to the affiliated libraries of their network.
An amount of $88,400 was allocated to the Rosemère library to enrich its collection of books and documents for the benefit of the citizens they serve.
“Public libraries are places that offer citizens privileged access to culture and learning, and that put them in touch with all facets of the arts. They are also friendly places that contribute to their personal development. Our government recognizes the essential role of public libraries in democratizing access to culture and knowledge. Quebeckers can be proud of this network which ensures the distribution and influence of Quebec books and which is an important link in the book chain in Quebec. ” said Nathalie Roy, Minister of Culture and Communications

VacciBUS ending operations

The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) des Laurentides and exo will wrap up operations for the VacciBUS on September 4th. 76 days since it went into service, about 12,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered. This summer, the VacciBUS visited more than 45 different locations in the Laurentians, giving the public the opportunity to receive a first or second dose of vaccine. The team had the capacity to vaccinate over 250 people a day, 7 days a week.
“We are enormously proud of the VacciBUS’s success. Over the summer, people were encountered where they were, in well-attended locations such as the Saint-Eustache movie theatre, the Pointe-Calumet and Saint Sauveur aquatic parks, Cégeps, university campuses, shopping malls, flea markets, farmers’ markets, the ICAR motorsports complex and various festivals, events and municipal beaches. Spontaneity and proximity were determining factors in the campaign’s success”, said Ms. Rosemonde Landry, President and Executive Director of the CISSS des Laurentides.
Thanks to the partnership 0f CISSS des Laurentides with the exo transit organisation, they were able to equip a bus to vaccinate over 30 people per hour without appointment. The VacciBUS itinerary was determined according to vaccination rates in certain sectors, in cooperation with the MRCs and municipalities in the region. “This is the result of a tremendous collaborative effort between exo, the organisations who welcomed us during the VacciBUS’s tour and our wonderfully dynamic teams. We want to thank each and every one for their contribution to this project and to the goal of protecting the public from COVID-19”, Ms. Landry added.
“Exo is pleased to have participated in the success of the VacciBUS Laurentides’ vaccination drive initiated by the CISSS des Laurentides. We are proud of having contributed to protecting the communities we serve against the COVID-19 virus thanks to this inspired and effective undertaking”, said Sylvain Yelle, general manager of exo.
The vaccination campaign continues in the Laurentians. People can still get vaccinated with or without an appointment, at our various vaccination sites or mobile units crisscrossing the region. A shuttle and escort service are also available.
